4 Life Foundation
For many years, Elysee has been closely involved with the 4 Life Foundation ( www.sieraden4life.nl ) in Mijdrecht, a small-scale development organization that supports single-parent families in Kenya. Families in which a father is missing. The families that the 4 Life Foundation focuses on are among the poorest (monthly income of up to €20). They are families where everything revolves around survival.
In the early years of the foundation, Alco van de Bree, as a board member, helped shape the set-up of the Foundation and projects in Kibera, the slum area of Nairobi. Currently, Alco is still closely involved and Elysee sponsors the Foundation and some individual projects. For example, in 2013, Elysee, together with a business partner, took care of the construction of a new primary school for almost 300 students in Kibera and together with loyal friends, it still bears the annual costs.
